Victoria Educational Gardens
Antique Roses
and Earth-Kindฎ Trial Garden
No garden would be complete without a beautiful display of roses and Victoria Educational Gardens has the distinction of being designated a National Earth-Kind Rose Test Site.

You can view these test roses along with 15 roses that have already achieved that special status.

You can also view VCMGA's special selection of Antique Roses.  All these roses have special markers for you to find which ones you like best.
Carefree Beauty aka
Katy Road Pink
This special rose is so good, it is the control for the Earth-Kind Rose Test Site
Please read Mary and Jerome Janak's article on Earth-Kind Roses which appeared
in The Victoria Advocate's Gardeners' Dirt
This image shows the Earth-Kind Rose Test bed at Victoria Educational Gardens.  Each rose must be planted 8 feet apart and receive no special care other than watering and mulching..
This area is also the Earth-Kind Rose Trial bed.  The area is located next to the Meditation Cathedral Gazebo.  You will be able to view each rose that is on trial for selection as an Earth-Kind rose.  They are left to right: Pipe Dreams, Souvenir De St. Anne's, Soncy, Malaguena, Winter Sunset, and Carefree Beauty, which is the control rose.
