One of the new features in the Veggie Area of the Victoria Educational Gardens is the bulletin board that shows what parts of the plant we eat when we eat certain veggies. How many fruits and veggies do we need each day? |

There were many smiling faces as the students moved from the Veggie Area to the Butterfly Area with leader, Pat Plowman. |

Pat Plowman, VEG Chair, taught the children how to use Butterfly Wheels to find the Monarch Butterfly, the state insect of Texas. The students also indentified the Pipevine Swallowtail caterpillars that were munching their way through some Aristolochia~ Dutchman's Pipe Vine. |

Vivian Mozisek aided the students in planting their cuttings of artemisia in paper pots to take back to their school. |

|
Helen Boatman, VCMGA Volunteer, lead a discussion of how to plant a cutting and the needs of a plant before the students planted their cutting of artemisia in the paper pots. The students can plant the paper pot directly in the ground as the paper will "wear out" as it recycles material back into the soil. |

Renae Pierce, VCMGA Intern, was the guide through the Sensory and Texas Native Area. Here the students named the state tree, insect, flower, etc of the Lone Star State. It was easy to find the lady with the "FLOWERDY HAT!" |

It was nice for the students, teachers, and parents to have a comfy building to get in out of the wind and enjoy their sack lunches. |
